Introduction to Photography

It's time for us to practice some shooting for our Assignment 2 - Street Photography that is coming next Tuesday. Instead of shooting building structures that are static, we have to shoot mobile people in campus. For me, it is quite a challenge as it requires much courage to step up and shoot a person around campus. Worse still, the subject keeps dodging or is reluctant. And for a funny starter, many passed by me muttering some vulgar words while escaping my deadly shot. *laughs*

Exercise 6: Monochrome Street Photography Exercise

Take 3 monochrome photos of people around campus while adjusting the exposure of the camera manually.

Best of 3

Aperture: f/5.6

Shutter Speed: 1/400

ISO: 100

I took an action picture of someone throwing a Frisbee. I love this very much because I waited there long enough for the dog to cross over. This photo is very interesting as it is contrasting in terms of the direction of action and the size. This photo looks like a 1990's rock music album cover. Good ol' dog!

Aperture: f/7.1

Shutter Speed: 1/400

ISO: 400

Kung Fu catch! I have to wait again with a high shutter speed to get this awesome posture. I like this photo because the girl is off centered and the Frisbee lies right between her hands. I have quite a hard time making sure the Frisbee comes to the right visible spot - the white cement.

Aperture: f/3.5

Shutter Speed: 1/100

ISO: 800

I took a photo of my friend who deliberately posted that funny face to me with his own consent. How I wished it was candid and it did! This photo seems as both of them are having a funny conversation, but actually, it is not... I loved how the exposure turned out to be rich in tones, like a memoir...

I have a fun time taking photos and exercise at the same time (running and perspiring under the hot sun). The only regret I have is the opportunity of not being ready. There were many interesting shots that I can shoot but I'm not ready to shoot spontaneously with different settings that needs to be made. Haha, this makes me cherish every moment because it only happens one in a lifetime, unless it is déjà vu!

Extra:

Aperture: f/7.1

Shutter Speed: 1/400

ISO: 400

I love how off-centered this photo is for an interesting composition. Not forgetting to mention the rhythm of the boys that is ready to catch the Frisbee. The man standing in the middle also adds contrast to the whole piece.

Aperture: f/3.5

Shutter Speed: 1/640

ISO: 100

This photo looks like a fashion photo, hence I like it. I also like how the right side of the girl's face is shown and the asymmetrical balance of the people in this composition. The shutter speed is high as the girl is walking very fast to dodge my shot. I liked how the exposure turned out to be dark and gloomy as it conveys the stress of urban life.
