[PROJECT 1] KNOWING THE ARTIST
Exploration of Infographic
Here is the Project 1 Brief
With my chosen artist as inspiration for my infographic, here's my journey of discovery, not just on how infographic works, but understanding and appreciating the artist himself.
With Laurent Elie Badessi (Insta: @lebfoto) as my chosen inspiration, I proceeded in researching any info regarding him and compiled them together, arranging them into a mind map. I can't help but notice the pun in his name - Badessi, or in a metaphor, Bad-ass? Well, he surely is bold venturing into eroticism photography.

MINDMAP
After the mid mapping, I realized some general information have been missing and added them for later use. At this moment, my keywords are Nudes, Portraits and Abstracts, the types of artwork he produces.
While figuring out the layout of the infographic, there are plenty of modifications done.

DRAFT INFO GRAPHIC 1
The layout is planned and pictures are placed with the information following a sequence of timelines. However, I disliked the way the pictures are placed, their distinct shapes do not fit the overall concept. Besides, Laurent's biography is mixed into the timeline and is confusing to look at. So, I did the modifications in the final draft, not forgetting to add in my chosen keywords as well!

DRAFT INFOGRAPHIC 2
After the critique, I get some fresh inspiration from my lecturer, Ms Aida and my peers! The colours chosen created confusion between the keywords, biography and the artworks so I have to change the less important ones into grey and pop up the ones that are important. Besides that, I realized that Laurent's true passions need more emphasis and the keywords have to be linked to his manifesto, so I did some little twerking in my final A2 board by changing the quote.

FINAL INFO GRAPHIC
At this point in time, I realized that Laurent Elie Badessi isn't just merely having fun with his passion, his fun later came with a purpose. As to how Lauren Chan puts forth after an hour of interviewing Laurent, she concludes that Laurent's artworks aim to inspire thought among viewers. These are further emphasized by impact, interaction, repetition and contrast.
KEYWORDS
Impact
Laurent chooses to dwell in photography because it changes himself and others. "I believe that being around the medium of photography throughout my life has firmly shaped my view of the world and how I photograph that world." Because of this, Laurent is impacted to impact others. As his view changes while photographing others, he discovers life issues and converts them into impacting messages to share."My images often reflect on social, political, and cultural issues including our relationship with nudity, religion, the environment, war, and the fragility of life." His artworks cause people to think and question his works of art. "My photographs are rarely spontaneous. Everything in them has a reason for being there." Laurent deliberately crafted every shot he takes to bring out a clear message. In his artwork project "Etnik", he photographs the ethnics in such a way that he highlights the difference of their fashion. Tribal fashion is one thing, but Laurent focuses on the western items that the tribes, who do not have much exposure to the western world via media, have already started assimilating into their daily lives. Though they have no clear idea of what a Bic pen is, they are fascinated and start wearing them in their hair as an ornamental thing! Hence, Laurent noticed that inside of us the human being has a sense of fashion and newness.
Interaction
"The trust that formed between the sitters and myself during this undertaking and the power of the medium fascinated me so much that I still focus on these two vectors today whenever I work on projects involving people."
Because of this curiosity, Laurent is inspired to further develop his photography knowledge. He is interested in how models think psychologically when he is doing nude photography.
Besides, Laurent loves to interact with people through his works. His message questions the viewpoint and encourages people to give feedback. In his latest artwork "The Age of Innocence", Laurent has been interacting with people with this question: "What do you like about guns?"
Repetition
Laurent loves repeating, from the repetition of shapes to series, he has been having quite fun! 5 of his artworks are a series of similar concepts photographed with a similar taste. But why? It can be seen that Laurent is trying to emphasize something. (Nah! You are caught thinking!)
Contrast
From monochrome to bursting colours, the harmony of opposites between human and nature ("Tree of Love"), smooth and rough, chaos and calm, fragile and strong, short and permanent ("Innocence")....and ideology, Laurent loves to play "Clash of Clans". He challenges society, governments and people with his art. In his artwork "America Dream, It Is Not A Dream", he shows the reality of the army forces during a war, not what it has been propaganda-ed. The government even have to control his art from reaching the U.S.! ("Fragments of Innocence" Series)
His nudes artwork "Charles Jourdan" caused some arguments among the people as it is deemed inappropriate of such exposure, definitely a contrast to the norm of that time.
In conclusion, Laurent is a Badessi (pun intended), he is resolute, wants his own way and do whatever he can to impact and have fun along the way! Personally, I love the way he takes on his passion, by exploring and never stop trying! His artworks constantly change with different approaches and newness and this is what makes life interesting!
[PROJECT 2] INTER [ACTIVE] ARTIST ESSENTIAL
Here is the Project 2 Brief.
Exploration of Function and Design Ideas
After understanding the client, his life, his love, his passions, it is time for me to make something that could help him in his expertise when he is out travelling in his field. Hence, it is important to know what he does and the tools that he needs. So here's the collection of tools a photographer needs:

By knowing his inventories, I can now design a toolkit that is easily accessible, compact, functional and awesome looking! It is basically according to the Bauhaus philosophy of Function + Design. Hence, the exterior has to portray the keywords of the artist as well as having interesting mechanism exploration.
The mechanisms used are:
- sliding out
- sliding in
- folding
- rotate

[PROJECT 3] ART[LIVE] ESCAPADE
Here is the Project 3 Brief
Expression of Space
This final assignment aims to create a compact living using two 12000mm x 2400mm x 2850mm containers for a getaway from the city to get some new inspiration. It will be a temporary home and working area.
Things to be highlighted:
i) Compact Living
It is living in a compact environment, where a limited area is designed by taking every required activity into consideration. With the aid of multifunctional furniture, compact living will be a breeze.
ii)Lightweight
As two containers are given, the construction of the building has to be structurally feasible. Besides, the furniture designed must be able to be borne by the structure.
iii) Space Expression
Space is able to be expressed in the way of the artist, or are able to express the artist's work with its own unique aesthetics.
iv) Space Function
Space has to be functional and user-friendly, with each area clearly defined for a specific function or multi-functioned. The space has to be able to solve the artist's daily problems.
Class Trip
Before generating some ideas, we, the BIA'S went to the oldest rainforest in the world - Temenggor Reserve Forest, Perak to experience what is it like to live away from the city.

NICE VIEW HERE!

PROJECT 3 BRIEFING
After that, it is time to put our ideas on paper!

2ND PIN UP CRIT
Final Project Presentation

FINAL PRESENTATION BOARD
Why PRISME? You might ask.
My client is a French guy and French guys are proud and fond of their mother tongue. Hence, I gave this house a France name: Prisme, which simply means Prism in France. This house highlights a playful exploration of lights, shadows and colours, just like looking through the lens of a prism!

Reflection
This semester, I learn that the client's needs are very important, especially the client's passion. Hence, more thoughts have to be placed on the client's work area - that is the design studio. I failed to do deeper research on how a photography room should be - controlled lighting, spaces required... The glad thing I discovered this early! I should take note of the build-ability of my structure as well as not compromising on my staircase ergonomics, hehe!

That's all folks! Thanks for stopping by~~
