Furniture Design

At this stage, I am to propose my very own office furniture to be able to produce it in prototype 1:1 scale.

ASSIGNMENT 3 - KAPORE

This is my very own idea inspired by chalks both for the proposal as well as for the MIIF Furniture Design Competition 2019.

Although I didn't get into the finalist despite high hopes around me, I got to learn a lot. Perhaps my furniture is not economically feasible and too complex?

ASSIGNMENT 4 - FNKY MNKY

As with the limited time available to construct Chalkaholic's design, my teammate, Clara's simpler design is chosen to be built. Both of us contributed to the final product of this furniture.

The total costing for this custom made furniture is RM400. I can say that the design is rather hard to work with as the joineries and the structure being designed comes with its own flaws - unstable. Often, I have to help with troubleshooting without any basic knowledge.

I learnt a lot about furniture making and how designing and building is a total different process. By making your design alive, you get to experience and feel the unexpected and to troubleshoot with the best option possible. And by doing so, you learn. So in everyday life, don't give excuses that you can't do this or that, just try and immerse yourself into the waters, and while you are immersing, you'll eventually have to learn to swim.

Survival, will be your best learning motivator.
